On the weekend of 23rd and 24th August 2014, Bethel Community Church hosted it’s Community Fun Weekend. With some excellent examples of teamwork from members of Bethel and help from a team of youth from RiverDee Community Church in Flint in North Wales we held several events over the weekend!
During the day time Bethel held it’s Community Fun Day which attracted over a hundred people to come along and enjoy all what was on offer. There were a number of activities available including a face painting stall, a penalty shoot out completion, a bouncy castle and support from the local fire service who allowed children (and adults!) to have a look inside the fire engine. Inside the church there were Cornish Cream Teas on offer for those who appreciated the simpler things in life! A number of local community groups such as Christians Against Poverty (CAP), Smart Savings and Karrek Community (a community interest group who support people with learning disabilities) were also there to encourage and help out on the day.
In the evening Bethel held its first ever Live lounge session with guitarists from Wales, Exeter and Cornwall all taking their turns to entertain the audience with both popular songs and well known worship music. A great time was had by all!
On Sunday at the Family service the RiverDee Community Church youth took the service by leading the church in songs, sharing testimonies and delivering a powerful relevant message of encouragement.
Over the whole weekend, many first time visitors came along and saw what was happening at the church, new friendships were formed and connections made… A very exciting time indeed!
